9/11 Maritime Videos & Oral History

For extensive background info about this topic, visit our other maritime 9/11 webpage here. We add to both these pages.

Unless otherwise indicated, the videos below were shown in the 9/11 VIDEO BOOTH on the deck of our ship MARY A. WHALEN as part of an outdoor 9/11 exhibit that ran from 9/8/21 through 10/8/21.

On 9/10/21, a blessing of the fleet commemorated the 20th of anniversary of 9/11 boatlift. During that, PortSide’s Executive Director Carolina Salguero narrated a harbor tour on a boat from Classic Harbor Line. The sound has some issues at some points. When it is faint, it may be better to use headphones.

Mariners' Response to 9/11. This PortSide talk occurred on Zoom September 7, 2021. The host was Carolina Salguero, PortSide founder & ED. Panelists were Rich Naruscewicz, Jessica Du Long. and Jan Andrusky (who worked at Weeks Marine then). Some of our Zoom audience were mariners who responded to the 9/11 attacks, so the program became a discussion between participants and not just panelists talking. There were tech problems screening the video Boatlift which is embedded in our program video below. If you haven’t seen that before, skip to the link below this one to see it.
