Calling all creatives! Are you a painter, sketcher, illustrator, poet, photographer? Come create work inspired by MARY and our evocative maritime location. Find colleagues who are similarly inspired. Artists are invited as of 8:00am; and at 1:00pm, the public is invited for TankerTours of the ship itself.
We expect many plein air painters, and the Urban Sketchers are involved. Exhibition space is available on the chain link fence next to our ship. We can offer digital exhibit space in our e-museum Red Hook WaterStories for work created that day. More info on our blog post Calling all creatives: participate in MARY Inspiration Day!
1:00-6:00pm We will offer TankerTours of the ship. Frank Hanavan will teach a water color class. A few times a year, the ship is open up to the public to explore all the bells and jingles from wheelhouse to engine room, uncommon spaces, tech and social history.
Part of the “MARY Month of May” festival in honor of the 80th birthday or our ship MARY A. WHALEN.
