Sign up for a public sunset sail on the famous sloop Clearwater leaving from the Mary Whalen, 5:30 to 8pm. Sails are pay what you can. 45 passengers max. Reserve at https://bit.ly/clearwaterPSNY or the QR code. Once a sail is booked up, it disappears from their calendar. [This sail replaces the one scheduled for Monday, May 27, which was rained out - it is sure to book up fast]. There are also a limited number of spaces on public sails later in the week.
Note: The previously scheduled afternoon tours of the Clearwater while docked have been canceled for this day. Daily TankerTime access to the deck of the Mary Whalen is ongoing.
From May 27th to June 2nd, the famous sloop Clearwater created by Pete Seeger will be based here, tied up next to our Mary A. Whalen. The Clearwater will offer some free public sails, some programs while tied up here, and their ship would be visible from ours during TankerTime (when they are not out sailing).
More about the Clearwater from their website “In 1966, folk music legend and environmental activist Pete Seeger, in despair over the pollution of his beloved Hudson River, announced plans to “build a boat to save the river.” Seeger, along with many other concerned individuals, believed that a majestic replica of the sloops that sailed the Hudson in the 18th and 19th centuries would bring people to the river where they could experience its beauty and be moved to preserve it.”
