Film: “Emergent City”

  • Strong Rope Brewery 185 Van Dyke Street Brooklyn, NY, 11231 United States (map)

Called "the best NYC documentary in a decade" by Hell Gate, “Emergent City” follows the decade-long redevelopment of Brooklyn's Industry City. A microcosm of American democracy, this meticulously-crafted observational film offers a front row seat to the public and private spaces where the city is shaped.

The screening will be followed by a community conversation with the filmmakers and some people in the film about the issues there and how the film relates to the current replanning of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal (BMT) along the Red Hook and Columbia Street waterfront.

Partners: PBS POV, NY Film & Video Council.
